On Dave's 21st and being in the Peaks...

Dave had a children's TV character fancy-dress theme (I was supposed to be Stephanie from lazy town but the wig was a little too long) at his house party in Sheffield before we were meant to be going out to Pop Tarts at the Union. Cameron got absolutely smashed on the drive there on wine and passed out as soon as we arrived (about 5.30pm). He came round when people started arriving though. We all had a great time playing children's party games and then got taxis to the Union (I left my camera in the taxi, it went on a magical mystery tour around Sheffield before I realised it was missing and rang the company, who thankfully sent it back to me in a taxi). Unfortunately Sarah got into a fight (verbal) with a bouncer and he wouldn't let her in so me, Cameron and Blair sold our tickets (I made a £6 profit on mine). Then Sarah managed to get in somehow, I think in a different entrance my memories of this time are a bit hazy, and got really mad at Dave because he wasn't going to abandon us in the middle of Sheffield. We went for a curry in a curry house where I had the most amazing Korma and Cal Sykes completely drenched the table in tap-water repeatedly. Then when we left the five lads all stripped to their underwear and ran through the streets (I have no idea why and felt so embarrassed being the only girl with them). For some reason Dave ran into a studently block grassy-place and all these people cheered and when we looked in a window there was a party of about 50 asian girls, who let us in but half of them had disappeared, probably hiding in their rooms from the strange men in their underwear. So we left, taking with us some Yellow Pages we found on the floor and leaving it on the windscreen of a car further down the road. When we got back we drank tea and then all passed out in Dave's room and I slept using a mattress and someone's legs as my pillow.

On the Sunday, which was Dave's 21st, we went on a gorgeous walk in the Peaks because it was actually a beautiful day even though it is February. We worked up a massive appetite and decided to go for a carvery where I have never eaten so much in my life apart from Boxing Day at TGI Friday's where I out-ate Blair, Gem and Ruby.

All in all, I had a fabulous weekend.

On The Name of the Wind

Because I've been pretty ill (even though it's just a cold, I'm a wuss with colds) I read this yesterday/today because according to some blogs and "50 best..." lists it is meant to be an exceptionally good read. I found it to be very good, originally told, well written, gripping, etc. etc. but I really don't think that it deserves the amount of praise it gets. As you can probably tell by earlier posts I'm a fantasy fanatic, my guilty pleasure is nerding out and reading a good series in the space of a week. I've read some spectacular series that are so much better than this that haven't got mentions in the lists and blogs I perused to come up with this title. I wondered why and the only thing I could come up with is, don't get me wrong I really enjoyed reading this, that it is sort of... simplified? It doesn't contain technical language or a complex storyline. It doesn't really make you think at all. It's the sort of book that people would dub "beach reads" in my opinion.

Either way, it suited excellently to a sick person in bed for two days with no TV and I will definitely be finishing the series. Luckily for me my mum's bought them all on my Amazon account so they're all ready on my Kindle. Glad that all uni assignments/exams are over and I can actually get back to doing some reading.

On another politics night out and finishing off a month of hard work...

After a long struggle, and working harder than I have ever worked before, exam/assignment period is finally over. They're all taken/handed in (on time!) and now I can relax, have some nights out with my friends and just chill. I haven't been able to watch anything, read my kindle, my new books or even paint my nails properly I've been that busy! Though I do feel oddly good about myself after all the effort I've put in. Just waiting on results now!

I look terrible in these but that's OK because I had an amazing time! Fantastic night.

On my law exam and the aftermath...

So the blog title may seem a little dramatic but my aftermath I mean...

B bought me my little owl friend as a treat for working so hard for the exam. It went really well I'm pleased to say though I'm worried I didn't give enough examples of case law or statutes... But definitely got enough points in each question for a C at least. Hopefully a B. I know I am capable of getting an A but a) I don't want to jinx it and b) I taught myself it in at just under two weeks so we'll see.

Furthermore, I need these. They're my motivation to get a job when my other three uni assignments are handed in by the end of the month. Could never afford them with just a student loan. D:

On Harry Potter...

Found this amazing picture whilst surfing them webz last night. It seems like my whole childhood revolved around Harry Potter and with the conclusion of the Deathly Hallows Part 2 last July it felt like something was coming to a close. I still keep being Potterish alive though, by listening to Stephen Fry read the books to me every night as I'm going to sleep. Sad? I don't think so and it relaxes me and helps me get to sleep easier. Plus Stephen Fry is AMAZING at reading them. I can't get over how he makes each voice (and there's loads of them) different. I'm currently about a quarter of the way though The Goblet of Fire.

Anyway, this is my little ode to HP. Think of me what you will!

On law revision and uni assignments...

Really going for it like I never did in 6th Form. I think it was quite possibly the biggest regret I have. Time to make up for it now though!

AS Law exam on the 11th, Case Study draft due in on the 10th, European Politics Essay on the 16th and Political Concepts and Ideologies essay on the 24th. Busy month, the only thing getting me through is the thought of B's birthday and two of my best mate's 21st birthdays all within the space of a week next month.

Oh, and Richard's housewarming this weekend aha.

Sorry for the poor quality pictures, taken off my rubbish Blackberry 9300. Just realised that it doesn't actually cost me anything to upload pics to Facebook or Twitter so from now on people will just be bombarded with mundane things in their feeds like cups of tea etc.
